Jim Lafferty has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC). Lafferty will be taking over from Roland Ebelt who completes his three-year tenure in the second quarter of 2010.
He is joining NBC from Procter & Gamble where he spent 24 years working in four continents, most recently as President and General Manager for the Philippines.
Lafferty, an American and physiologist by profession started his career as a school head track coach and a fitness management consultant to many big companies. His background prepared him for a transition into a marketing role with P& G, where his exceptional people skills and practical approach to job delivery saw him successfully completing assignments and consequently earning higher responsibilities in diverse markets from Morocco to the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
His latest assignment came in 2006 when he was asked to turn around the P&G business in the Philippines. By upgrading and re-mobilizing the organization and its people, focusing on performance and results, redesigning the route-to-market and taking a lead in innovation amongst other initiatives, Lafferty and his team successfully exceeded business targets, thus positioning P&G Philippines for sustainable growth.
